We Are...
Sharpsburg and the Antietam National Battlefield have long been our playground, family home, and a great place to live as well as explore. Located east of the Potomac River, Sharpsburg was first settled in 1763 and has been a quaint little town ever since. Many of the buildings and homes have stories to tell of decades gone by. Visitors walk the town as they eat their ice cream just as many locals have done for generations. Many locals have ancestors who were original settlers of the town and we love to explore the area as much as they did. The town boasts events that everyone in town looks forward to each year.
Our family has lived and worked in Sharpsburg for generations. Our family owned and operated business takes pride in our historical town and area. After getting our start in May of 1996, many family members have helped us scoop delicious treats over the years. The shop only became a reality after our Owner, Deb Nutter, followed her dream of owning an ice cream shop. At the time, the recent retirement of Mr. Kretzer provided us with an ideal space to have our shop. |

Our shop and the historical building we call home
The building we have called home since we opened in 1996 has been a gathering place in the community for many decades. Before we opened, a family in the town had operated Kretzer's Market. The Kretzer family was never short on smiles and children always left with some penny candy. He and his family were loved by the town and always hold a place in our hearts.
The building has seen a few changes over the years. The Mason's added the second story in the late 1800's which gives the building its present look. Much of the current structure is original, very little has been added or modified. In our section many original elements of the building still exist. The space was previously the butcher shop and florist area during various periods of Kretzer's Market. Everything from the floors to the shelving around the store that hold the trinkets that are for sale to even some of the items on display on the top ledge are all from when the space was used as a butcher shop among other things. Our personal collection of items lines the top shelves. This building is part of what makes our shop unique. |
